First meetingToday I met with Amber and Kirsty from active well being to discuss exactly what they wanted me to produce for the family fun day they were holding at the university in may. The event is tailored to teaching people about the 5 ways of well being and how they can support their own well being. The event is aimed at staff and their families/friends. Therefore, it was important that we looked into ways we could make learning about the 5 ways of well being fun for all ages. Kirsty mentioned that they were considering a treasure hunt, which I then had several light bulb moments... ( thank you ADHD). I suggested we could do a treasure map where each station is tailored to a way of well being and once they have completed the station they collect a sticker with the way of well being the station represents and then when they have collected all the stickers and completed the activities they get a prize at the final station. Kirsty and Amber loved the idea of this so this is the idea we are going to develop. But it doesn't stop there... I then had the idea of creating some business card sized information cards for people to take away which will support their well being, they also liked this idea and felt this would be something we could do with minimal budget. We then came up with the idea of a tree where you write something positive on a leaf and attach it to the tree, this was linked to 'give'. They also mentioned they would like some colouring in sheets for the children to colour in and with the potential of there being a craft area too. I then suggested that we linked the colouring sheets to the ways of well being and others with some positive quotes on that link to the 5 ways too. In conclusion I have made lots of work for myself once again but I'm super excited to see what comes of this project!

Book club page designHere is the final design work for the ADHD Wise UK book club which I was asked to do. I had a lot of fun with this, allowing me to step away from very professional looking work to something a bit more playful!
Make sure to check the page out on facebook! @ADHDbookclub Online book clubAfter posting some of my lettering work on twitter I was approached by Jannine who runs ADHD Wise UK asking me if I would be able to do some work for her, for her new online ADHD focused book club she was about to launch. I was sooooo excited as my aim in life is to design for an ADHD based organisation or run my own organisation for those with ADHD similar to the likes of ADHD Wise Uk and ADHD Foundation. Jannine herself has ADHD and is an ADHD coach and speaker who delivers training accross the country as well as running online courses for adults with ADHD who find themselves at a loss or need a bit more support like myself. This is just a few of the fantastic things she does for the community! Im super excited to start working with Jannine on this and fingers crossed it could lead to more work! Make sure you check out what she does on facebook or twitter! Twitter: @ADHDwiseUK Facebook: @adhdwiseuk Here is a printed booklet version of my portfolio, which has a wide variety of my work in here, most of it linking to ADHD and my final third year project. I will be taking one of these into my portfolio interview and intend to give the interviewer a copy to take away in case I do not get around to talking about all of my work during the interview. EnquiryI recieved an email today from the active well being co-ordinator at the university in regards to being involved in the design of some materials for a family fun day in may. I have jumped at this opportunity as I have been on the active well being programme for a while and have found it really beneficial and would love to educate others about how important it is that we look after our well being and how we can do this. I will be meeting with Kirsty to discuss the project further and I cant wait to see it progress!
Recently I have been really enjoying creating hand lettering in my spare time and feel it is actually quite therapeutic for me. This is really helpful as I often start a new hobby because I enjoy the, and then end up getting carried away and forgetting how to enjoy them becasue im taking it to seriously, or im not happy until I get the best grade or first place in something. But with digital lettering, I am enjoying it and don't have to worry about making mistakes and it also can work as an outlet, as I can write how I am feeling or write about quotes that may link to how I am feeling which is really helpful. Particulary because I avoid doing art work for fun as I ended getting more frustrated because it isn't perfect or doesn't look how I want it to look, but thats the great thing with pro create, I don't have to worry about making mistakes which then makes it more enjoyable. Don't get me wrong I still get frustrated (ADHD probz) and sometimes I just can't if my head isn't in it. But its nice to finally find something that I can do alone which is relaxing (most of the time). Here is some things I have been working on recently! As mentioned in my previous post, I said I may adopt a similar sytle to my powered by ADHD lettering peice to my creative design practice final major project. So here is some more I have been working on based on the titles of the mini booklets I am going to create about ADHD. Umbrella projectHere is the amended ADHD Foundation logo I mentioned in a previous post. This is predominantly for promoting their umbrella project which is an art installation that the charity do every year! The umbrella project is a recurring project which the ADHD foundation do every year. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of developmental disorders such as ADHD,autism and dyslexia. It is also helps to promote the positives that come with having such conditions, whilst also reducing the stigma attached to these neurodevelopment disorders. For more information, or if you would like to get involved, check out their website https://www.adhdfoundation.org.uk. I will mention that I did not design the original logo nor did I design the materials in which the amended logo have or will be used on unless specified otherwise. Here is a piece of hand lettering I have been experimenting with. "Powered by ADHD" ADHD can be used as a super power once a person learns how their brain works they can use it to their advantage which is what makes us so awesome! I really quite like this chaotic, fun and bright style, I think it depicts ADHD quite well! I may adopt and develop this style further as part of my final creative design practice module... Professional Practice. As part of my Professional practice module I must have a portfolio interview which is worth 60% of this module. Here is the first version I have created. I was given feedback on this today and it seemed all positive and have just been asked to get this printed in large scale for next week. However, I was also advised that I remove the mock up versions and just have the artwork on a spread to allow it to have its full impact and for people to be able to see the detail better. |
